DESCRIPTION: Located in the Hudson Valley, the design is influenced by the farmhouses and barn structures located throughout the countryside in upstate New York. The single-story structure includes two ensuite bedrooms, a home office, large open-kitchen living area, and sleeping porch that overlooks the landscape courtyard with views of the pool and forest beyond. The building is Passive House compliant with a super-insulated envelope and geo-thermal heating and cooling system. The innovative materials and finishes include Shou Sugi Ban exterior siding, reclaimed barn wood from adjacent site structures, and corrugated metal used for the ceiling finish.
