David Burke
BArch (Hons), AIA, NCARB, LEED AP Architect

David understands the complexity and intensive coordination it takes to deliver large scale, high performance projects. His experience, enthusiasm, and penchant for innovation has resulted in inspiring projects across a range of sectors.
David’s design sensibility has always reflected a clear practicality. Guided by a commitment to planning and structural rigor, David’s projects express a strong sense of architectural and structural legibility that celebrate the use of structural and mechanical engineering, building material and architectural finish. The search to further the development of the industry has guided his work throughout his career.
Much of David’s work has centered around improving the public realm and the human environment. His focus spans from the residential sector to the institutional, whether a single-family residence to a public park, museum or college union building, David is committed to “the one, or the many.”
Learning and exploration has been a constant theme in David’s life. His recent projects with Grimshaw Architects include the Arizona State University Interdisciplinary Science & Technology Building 7, the University of Florida Wertheim Laboratory for Engineering Excellence and the Duke University Brodhead Center for Campus Life.
David's professional experience includes the Athletes’ Pavilion at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and a deployable exhibition enclosure for the UN Commission for Sustainable Development’s Earth Summit 3, and the design and fabrication of lightweight, kinetic and deployable structures for events and exhibitions.
