DESCRIPTION: Located in Garrison, NY, this private residence gently steps up the rolling field to subtly integrate into the hillside. The building takes advantage of seasonal passive heating and cooling opportunities by opening the living spaces to the south, while the north side of the structure turns its back to the prevailing winds coming off the Hudson River, helping to insulate the building against heat loss in the wintertime. The building includes a three-season sun porch that can be open or be closed to the landscaped patio, making it an internal or external space dependent on the season.
