DESCRIPTION: As a follow up to our “Backyard Modern” building in Beacon, NY, DBA planned, permitted, and worked with Hudson Handcrafted LLC to construct this 900sf, accessory dwelling unit. This structure includes a garage, overhead second floor artist studio, and 1-bedroom apartment. The distinctive 2-story structure includes a cathedral ceiling linking the garage and overhead balcony studio space. The client, a photographer, required this overhead condition to photograph and film his clients from above. The building is tuned to maximize natural light, ventilation and views of Mt. Beacon.
